Once known as Graystown, the town of Montgomery was incorporated in 1854. Montgomery is a small town that sits along the banks of the Fox River. In 1835, Daniel S. Gray, from Montgomery County, NY, settled in the area and started purchasing land and making improvements. He established many stores and manufacturing shops, foundries, and mills.
Since 2000, Montgomery’s population has increased from 5,471 to 18,438. Despite the increase in population, Montgomery remains a cozy hometown community with a variety of retail shopping centers, places to eat, and other businesses to fit the needs of its residents. Montgomery continues to grow in both business and in population.
